Nurse Practitioner Vaccine Hero Abigail Matos-Pag’an is an awesome example of so many dedicated Nurse Practitioners in today’s Covid-19/Delta environment. Abigail has made it her mission to vaccinate as many people as possible in the U.S territory of Puerto Rico. Some residents of Mayaguez, a costal city on the shores of the main island, call her “The Vaccination Queen” Abigail has vaccinated around 1,800 people in Puerto Rico! Many of her patients have been elderly, Abigail stated, “it’s been really nice to have intimate moments in someone’s home during vaccinations”, her home vaccination visits have made it possible for families to be reunited with their loved ones. Abigail’s dedication goes beyond just the current Covid-19/Delta outbreak, she has also been on the front lines organizing local Nurse Practitioners after Hurricane Maria struck the island and cut off electricity to the island, in 2020 a series of earthquakes struck the island and again Abigail was there to assist with at risk populations with medicine and mobile medical tents, when hospitals were overcrowded.
