Procedures Portfolio-Splinting and Ultrasound Basics for Primary & Urgent Care!

Splinting: Using our small group method, we will not only review concepts of splinting, but take ample time for you to practice applying splints on each other using the steps we share. You even get to take your moldable split and wrap home with you for continued practice!

Ultrasound Basics: As technology moves forward, the expectation for primary and urgent care providers to keep current with new and emerging skills. Ultrasound is where it’s at! Not only will we educate you on the basics of point of care ultrasound (POCUS), you will engage in real hands-on lab time with a hand-held ultrasound device! Procedures & Skills 101-Joint injections and more!

This workshop includes European Synthetic Smart Models where you will practice hands-on various types of joint injections! Our models provide real time feedback via a Smart tablet, this will help you know if you are injecting accurately!  This workshop includes many other hands-on Procedures, such as toenail/fingernail removal, incision & drainage of abscesses, Cryo, Cautery, Shave & punch!  You will not want to miss out on this great course! Suturing Essentials-All the basics of suturing!

This workshop includes all the instruments and instruction for learning hands-on! Our instructors are detailed and patient, they will guide you through your Suturing journey of basic stitches! Upon completion of this course you will feel confident with the ability to perform your newly learned skills! A take home kit is included so you can continue to practice your newly learned Suturing Skills! All workshops are taught by instructors who have been trained with years of experience and include quality handouts to take home for future reference. Our Procedures Portfolio splinting and ultrasound basics workshop is taught by thoughtful and engaging instructors, this workshop isn’t just a review! It is hands on learning!

Our small groups allow you plenty of time to perfect these skills so you leave comfortable performing them! All skills taught in this class allow time for guided assistance while you practice. Smaller group sizes are emphasized to get more personalized attention from instructors who have the experience and the skills to help you succeed. (And yes, lunch and light beverages are included!)

9:00-11:00 Hands-on Lab: Splinting: volar, thumb spica, ulnar/radial gutter, long arm, sugar tong, posterior short leg, PSL w stirrup, the fiberglass splint
11:00-11:30 Lunch
11:30-1:00 Presentation: Ultrasound Basics: a foundational review of terminology, approaches, interpretations, common point of care ultrasound (POCUS) areas of visualization, device handling, application to practice
1:00-2:30 Hands-on Lab: Practice in a small group with a handheld Ultrasound device, gain familiarity with movements, manipulation and basic structural identification.
2:30-3:00 Presentation: Review, refresher, clean-up, and closing discussion/questions

*Note: This workshop will not address acute care uses and does NOT discuss/review more complex ultrasound uses such as cardiac, chest tube placement, epidurals, etc.

We specialize in training YOU to have the skills you need to perform suturing techniques required in most Primary care and urgent care settings. All skill levels!! From a beginner to those advanced individuals that need a refresher course! Our smaller class sizes and patient yet knowledgeable instructors will make sure YOU leave confident in your skills! We cover multiple suturing techniques, supplies and materials (and their uses), anesthetic review, charting, sterile field and safety, plus tips and tricks of the trade!
