Skills & Procedures for the Advanced Practice Provider, training the NP/PA Nationwide!

Our Live Practitioner Workshops are held year round in 30 cities, we offer small class sizes and hands-on training. Make this year a great CME/CE learning experience at one of our many conferences! Below are our courses detailed for you!

All workshops are taught by instructors who have been trained with years of experience and include quality handouts to take home for future reference. Our small groups allow you plenty of time to perfect these skills. You will leave the workshop feeling confident performing them!

Splinting CME/CE courses-Primary Procedures

COURSE: PROCEDURES PORTFOLIO SPLINTING AND ULTRASOUND BASICS IN-PERSON WORKSHOP

Our Procedures Portfolio splinting and ultrasound basics workshop is approved for 7 AANP contact hours and  AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Taught by thoughtful and engaging instructors, this workshop isn’t just a review! It is hands on learning!

Splinting

Using our small group method, we will not only review concepts of splinting, but take ample time for you to practice applying splints on each other using the steps we share. You even get to take your moldable split and wrap home with you for continued practice!

Ultrasound Basics

As technology moves forward, the expectation for primary and urgent care providers to keep current with new and emerging skills. Ultrasound is where it’s at! We will not only educate you on the basics of point of care ultrasound (POCUS), including “what the heck am I even looking at” and device use, but also give practice time with an actual hand-held ultrasound device!

Workshop starts at 7:30 am and finishes mid afternoon

Our instructors will guide you through everything you need to meet the following objectives:

Splinting

  1. Identify indications for Splinting vs referral
  2. List potential complications of Splinting
  3. Recognize required equipment for Splinting
  4. Describe basic application of a splint
  5. Provide follow-up instructions and homecare for patients
  6. Confidently demonstrate application of a basic splints use on upper/lower extremity

Ultrasound Basics

  1. Demonstrate understanding of basic Ultrasound terminology
  2. Explain the use of Ultrasound waves to create images (physics)
  3. Understand and recognize basic hand-held Ultrasound capabilities and navigate settings
  4. Demonstrate the proper handling and movements needed for proper visualization
  5. Explain common areas of use for Ultrasound in Primary and Urgent Care Practice (POCUS-point of  Ultrasound)
  6. Actively visualize and recognize basic structures
  7. Participate in hands-on utilization of hand-held Ultrasound device to get you started!

Workshop Schedule

07:30-9:00 Presentation: Splinting: indications, referrals, assessment, complications, and implementation
9:00-11:00 Hands-on Lab: Splinting: volar, thumb spica, ulnar/radial gutter, long arm, sugar tong, posterior short leg, PSL w stirrup, the fiberglass splint
11:00-11:30 Lunch
11:30-1:00 Presentation: Ultrasound Basics: a foundational review of terminology, approaches, interpretations, common point of care ultrasound (POCUS) areas of visualization, device handling, application to practice
1:00-2:30 Hands-on Lab: Practice in a small group with a handheld Ultrasound device, gain familiarity with movements, manipulation and basic structural identification.
2:30-3:00 Presentation: Review, refresher, clean-up, and closing discussion/questions

*Note: This workshop will not address acute care uses and does NOT discuss/review more complex ultrasound uses such as cardiac, chest tube placement, epidurals, etc.

COURSE: PROCEDURES & SKILLS 101 IN-PERSON WORKSHOP

This fully synthetic Procedures & Skills 101 Course is AANP approved for 8.0 contact hours including (3.0 hours of pharmacology) and approved by AAPA Category 1 CME credits, includes training and practice in:

  • The assessment and administration of shoulder injections
  • The assessment and administration of knee injections
  • Knee aspirations
  • Toenail/fingernail removal
  • Nail trephination
  • Carpal tunnel injections
  • Incision and drainage of abscesses

Destruction Lab!

This workshop includes hands on practice on a non-live smart synthetic model (so you won’t hurt anyone while you learn).

All taught by instructors who have been trained with years of experience and include quality handouts to take home for future reference. Our small groups allow you plenty of time to perfect these skills so you leave comfortable performing them! All skills taught in this class allow time for guided assistance while you practice. Smaller group sizes are emphasized to get more personalized attention from instructors who have the experience and the skills to help you succeed. (And yes, lunch and light beverages are included!)

COURSE: SUTURING ESSENTIALS  IN-PERSON WORKSHOP

Our fully synthetic Suturing Essentials Course is approved for 7.5 AANP contact hours (Includes 2.0 hours of pharmacology) and 7.5 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. We do much more than just a lecture! We provide high quality information in all our live workshops! The workshop provides training and practice in basic to more advanced suturing techniques. We specialize in training YOU to have the skills you need to perform suturing techniques required in most Primary care and urgent care settings. All skill levels!! From a beginner to those advanced individuals that need a refresher course! Our smaller class sizes and patient yet knowledgeable instructors will make sure YOU leave confident in your skills! We cover multiple suturing techniques, supplies and materials (and their uses), anesthetic review, charting, sterile field and safety, plus tips and tricks of the trade! All this AND we give you instruments and a high-quality synthetic suture board ($80 value!) to use and take home!
